The “Premium” series of Cantiga is now available. New materials are used in the winding to ensure long life.

Creation カンティーガ Premium Strings

The Savarez Cantiga is a bass string that is used by many professionals.

A new product has just been introduced to the Cantiga family. These bass strings, called “Cantiga Premium,” are made of high-tech materials and have a longer life.

The following article summarizes the string reviews/impressions/information articles in this blog

(Postscript): I bought it and started reviewing it.

Use of windings made of new materials

In terms of bass strings using new material cores, I would like to mention Pro Arte’s Dynacore, and Dougal’s Diamante and Maestrale.

They all have the following features They are sold on the long time it takes to stabilize after tensioning and their long life. The Cantiga originally used a unique core wire called ” Cantiga Core”, but now it has a new winding. The new release of Savarez also claims to have a long life.

The tension is exactly the same as the normal version.

The Cantiga premium tension and string diameter is exactly the same as a regular Cantiga. The tension and diameter of the strings are exactly the same as the regular cantigas. Here is the tension comparison chart:

fourth string (of a shamisen, etc.)5th stringsix-stringed instrument
CantigaNormal7.2 kg6.5 kg6.6 kg
High7.6 kg7.1 kg7.0 kg
Cantiga PremiumNormal7.2 kg6.5 kg6.6 kg
High7.6 kg7.1 kg7.0 kg

I wonder if they did this on purpose to make it easier for regular Cantiga users to switch.

However, the materials are different, so the actual feeling of playing may be different.

(PS): The tension measurement results are in the December 2018 issue of Modern Guitar, and the tension was actually almost the same as a regular Cantiga. The tension may be determined by the core wire.

(P.S.): I actually played it, and the strings themselves are a bit stiff. However, I don’t mind the tension.

Premium versions of all Cantiga sets will be sold.

It seems that this Cantiga Premium will be sold with the same treble string combination as all the カンティーガ sets that have been released so far.

The model number is the one with a “P” at the end of the regular product.

The packaging has gold “PREMIUM” written on it, and the Savarez logo is also gold, so it looks cool.

Alliance Cantiga Premium

A set of アリアンス treble strings and カンティーガ Premium bass strings

The first one is Alliance Cantiga Premium.

The treble string is the carbon string Alliance, and the bass string is the Cantiga Premium.

The model number is

  • 510ARP: Normal tension
  • 510AJP: High Tension
  • 510ARJP: Normal tension on treble strings, high tension on bass strings

This is the first time I’ve done this.

List price is 2,830 yen. The regular price is 2,830 yen. The regular Alliance Cantiga is 2,540 yen, so it’s a little over 10% more expensive, plus 290 yen.

New Crystal Cantiga Premium

Next is the New Crystal Cantiga Premium.

The treble string is New Crystal, a nylon string, and the bass string is Cantiga Premium.

The model number is

  • 510CRP: Normal tension
  • 510CJP: High tension
  • 510CRJP: Normal tension on treble strings, high tension on bass strings

This is the first time I’ve done this.

List price is 2,340 yen. The regular price is 2,340 yen. The regular price of the New Crystal Cantiga is 2,050 yen, which is +290 yen.

Creation Cantiga Premium

The last one is Creation Cantiga Premium.

The treble strings are Alliance with nylon strings on the first and second strings, Alliance with carbon strings on the third string, and Cantiga Premium on the bass strings.

The model number is

  • 510MRP: Normal tension
  • 510MJP: High Tension
  • 510MRJP: Normal tension on treble strings, high tension on bass strings

This is the first time I’ve done this.

List price is 2,560 yen. The regular price is 2,560 yen. The regular price of the Creation Cantiga is 2,270 yen, which is also +290 yen.

Is the price 10% more than a regular Cantiga? (Addendum: It was +290 yen)

The price of the new material is a concern.

Unfortunately, they don’t seem to be sold in Japan yet, so I compared the prices of Creation Cantiga and Creation Cantiga Premium on an overseas shopping site.

  • 510MR: 15.8 Euro
  • 510MRP: 17.2 Euro

This is the first time I’ve done this.

Surprisingly, premium is cheap. This is my impression.

(Added on 11/5/2018) Regular price is Compared to regular Cantiga, +290 yen seems to be

Since it has a long life span, it could be said that premium is a better value.

I’d love to try it when it’s released in Japan.

The lifespan of bass strings is a very important factor in the running costs of a classical guitar player.

I would love to try this premium Cantiga.

I’d like to buy it when it’s released in Japan, but if it’s too late, I’ll probably just buy it overseas. I’d like to review it when I buy it.
